Tis the season for giving and even if you don`t have a lot to give, there are always people who are in need. The students from the Whiteshield School on the Fort Berthold Reservation know that first hand, but when they found out about some students here in Bismarck, they jumped at the opportunity to help.
"I wanted to help raise money for them, for all those people that didn`t have homes and stuff," said 8th grader Dylan Ross.
This week was a perfect time for the students to give a donation to the homeless coordinator of the Bismarck Public Schools and Carrie`s Kids. Through a week full of events, including a volleyball tournament, pajama day and a blanket sale, the students were able to raise $200 to give to the less fortunate students in Bismarck.
"When kids help kids, it to me is helping bridge that gap and show that caring isn`t at a certain age level and that concern comes when you can care about the humanity and about our growing population," said Carrie Grosz, Bismarck Public School homeless coordinator. "And I think it`s inspiring to know that people want to see other kids make it."
They all said they hope the money and donations they raised will help make the less fortunate students` Christmas a little brighter.
